About the project

The project "Capacity building in the countries of the Western Balkans and the Republic of Moldova“ (BACID) is funded by the Austrian Development Cooperation and implemented by the Austrian Association of Cities and Towns (AACT) and KDZ Center for Public Administration Research. The project has started in December 2014 and will last till end of November 2017.

The aim of the programme is to strengthen the governance structures of the target countries and to prepare them for possible accession to the European Union, with focus on local and regional governments with the following activities:

  • BACID Fund: Building administrative capacities in the Region through exchange of knowledge between Austrian and partners from the targeted countries.
  • Governance Forum: Supporting the networking platform established through Priority Axis 10 - Institutional Capacity.
  • LOGON Danube: Support implementation of the EU 2020 Strategy for South-East Europe.
